I Need A Resurrection

I’m feeling weary, all worn out

Stress is felt within, without

Is this what life is all about?

I need a resurrection

Complacency has settled in

Joined by apathy, its twin

Do I want to try again?

I need a resurrection

Fear and worry speak their lies

Anxiety begins to rise

My heart and mind are paralyzed

I need a resurrection

Disappointments mound with time

Depression settles in my mind

Good and light are hard to find

I need a resurrection

Lists of failures always shout

Haunt my mind with waves of doubt

The bad is all I think about

I need a resurrection

Injustices cry everywhere

Anger bids my soul to care

But helpless, hopeless lives in there

I need a resurrection

Unanswered questions fill my mind

Gnaw their way through faith’s lifeline

My faith is crying out this time

I need a resurrection

I know Your Word, I bring to mind

Events that happened past in time

I let them saturate my mind

Former resurrections

From You Who broke through time and space

To live inside this broken place

To come and save the human race

You brought us resurrection

If You can call out to the dead

Make stilled lungs breathe air instead

Call them forth from their death bed

Like Lazarus – You did

If you can tell a dead girl to rise

Make her stillness mobilize

And put the sparkle back in her eyes

Like Jairus’s daughter – You did

If You can lay dead in a tomb

Make Your own dead body move

Raise Yourself as living proof

Jesus – You did

Then bring me back to life again

Revive my soul with your Spirit’s wind

Infuse me with faith and hope again

Stronger than they ever have been

Fill me with joy and peace within

Remind me the enemy does not win

That Jesus will come back and then

He will make all things new again

This is what I’m believing in

You brought us resurrection

You are the resurrection

I need a resurrection
